What is MRHAB?
It’s an expedition
MRHAB is a 60-mile canoe trek on the Missouri River inspired by the spirit of Lewis & Clark—built for Scouts who want a next-level challenge and a real leadership experience.
Leadership through challenge
No merit badge schedule. No “classes.” Crews paddle, plan, and solve problems together. Leadership becomes real because it has to.
Why it works
Confidence: Scouts return home knowing they can do hard things.
Teamwork: Patrol/crew bonds form fast when the river is the classroom.
Retention: High adventure keeps older Scouts engaged and leading.
2026 Expedition Dates
Out-of-council units may attend MRHAB at the same participant fee as Sioux Council units. No additional surcharge.
Parents: why you can say yes
Safety-first planning
MRHAB is designed to be challenging but never reckless—built around preparation, clear expectations, and staff-supported execution.
Measurable growth
Scouts gain confidence, resilience, and real leadership habits—because the crew has to work together every mile of the journey.
“By day three, our crew stopped waiting for adults to tell us what to do. We figured it out together. MRHAB pushed me harder than any camp I’ve been to—and I came home knowing I could lead.”
Bring-a-Friend Crew Challenge
How it works
Register as a crew that includes at least one first-time MRHAB participant and receive a special MRHAB crew recognition item at the end of the trek.
Why it works
Peer-to-peer recruiting is the fastest way to fill crews. This incentive rewards crews for bringing new participants into the adventure.
